                     Methyl eugenol is also known as eugenol methyl ether, eugenol methyl ether, eugenol methyl ether, eugenol methyl ether (Eugenol methyl ether), 1-(3,4-dimethoxyphenyl)- 2 Propene [1-(3,4-Dimethoxyphenyl)-2-propene], 1,2-Dimethoxy-4-isopropenylbenzene [1,2-Dimethoxy-4-allylbenzene], commonly known as pyrimidine, clove oil. It is a colorless to pale yellow liquid at room temperature with low volatility and a relatively weak and persistent eugenol aroma. Insoluble in water, soluble in alcohol, ether, chloroform and oil. Harmful if swallowed, it can irritate the eyes, respiratory system and skin, has obvious central inhibitory effect, and can produce anesthetic effects on a variety of animals, and a few reports have carcinogenic consequences. Combustible, burning releases irritating gas. It is mainly used for the preparation of ylang-ylang, carnation, lilac and other flavors, and also used as a conditioner for eugenol and isoeugenol. It is also commonly used in flavors and tobacco. The molecular formula is C11H14O2

The main purpose
            It can be formulated as a clove aroma, producing a mild clove aroma in a floral or herbal or oriental aroma. A small amount is used in fragrances such as rose, carnation, ylang-ylang, lilac, gardenia, hyacinth, white orchid, acacia, tuberose, fragrant basil, lavender, bay rum, and male cologne. It can also be used in edible flavors, mainly as a modifier of spice, to provide ginger-like flavor, etc. It can also be used in tobacco flavors. Each fragrance ingredient used to formulate flavors shall not exceed the maximum allowable usage and maximum allowable residues specified in GB2760. The highest reference dosage of FEMA: soft drinks, 10mg/kg; ice cream, iced food, 4.8mg/kg; candy, 11mg/kg; baked goods, 13mg/kg; jelly, 52mg/kg.
