Introduction

             Cefixime is the third generation of cephalosporin antibiotics for oral use, which is suitable for the treatment of respiratory, urinary and biliary tract infections caused by sensitive bacteria. Cefixime is highly stable to β -lactamase produced by gram-negative bacilli, and its antibacterial effect on gram-negative bacilli is stronger than that of the first generation and the second generation cephalosporins, while its antibacterial effect on gram-positive cocci is inferior to that of the first generation and the second generation cephalosporins.

Function

Cefixime is used to treat the following infections caused by sensitive bacteria:

1. Respiratory infections, such as bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.;

2. Urinary system infection, such as pyelonephritis, cystitis, urethritis, etc.

3. Biliary tract infection, such as cholecystitis, cholangitis;

4. Others, such as otitis media, sinusitis, scarlet fever, etc.
