                    Synephrine hydrochloride, synephrine belongs to the ephedrine class of alkaloids, and its molecular structure contains both phenolic hydroxyl and amino groups, so synephrine has amphoteric properties and can be combined with acids and bases to form salts. Free synephrine is easily soluble in organic solvents but insoluble in water; its acid salts and basic salts are easily soluble in water but insoluble in organic solvents. Synephrine has been included in the Nordic Pharmacopoeia and the German Pharmacopoeia. It is currently considered to be an adrenergic alpha-receptor agonist.

                    Synephrine hydrochloride has the effect of constricting blood vessels and increasing blood pressure. Synephrine has a strong dilation of the trachea and bronchi. Intravenous injection in anesthetized cats can completely resist the bronchoconstriction caused by histamine, and it also has the same effect on isolated trachea of guinea pigs. Synephrine hydrochloride is clinically used for the treatment of bronchial asthma, hypotension, collapse and shock, and orthostatic hypotension during surgery and anesthesia.
