Penicillin potassium, also known as penicillin, penicillin G potassium salt, is a white crystalline powder, odorless or slightly specific odor, hygroscopic. Soluble in water, normal saline, glucose solution. The aqueous solution is easy to fail at room temperature, and it is rapidly ineffective in the presence of acid, alkali, and oxidant.
Penicillin has a good antibacterial effect against Streptococcus such as Streptococcus hemolyticus, Streptococcus pneumoniae and Staphylococcus which does not produce penicillinase. Has a moderate antibacterial effect on Enterococcus. Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Neisseria meningitidis, Corynebacterium diphtheriae, Bacillus anthracis, Actinomycetes, Streptomyces faecalis, Listeria, Leptospira and Treponema pallidum are sensitive to this product.

Penicillin is suitable for various infections caused by sensitive bacteria such as abscesses, bacteremia, pneumonia and endocarditis. Among them, penicillin is the drug of choice for the following infections:
Hemolytic streptococcal infections, such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, scarlet fever, erysipelas, cellulitis, and puerperal fever. Streptococcus pneumoniae infections such as pneumonia, otitis media, meningitis and bacteremia. Does not produce penicillinase staphylococcal infection.
