Mandelic acid, also known as amygdalic acid, α-Hydroxyphenylacetic acid 2-Hydroxyl-2-phenyl acetic acid. There are two chiral carbon atoms in the molecular structure of the amygdalin acid, so there are two optical isomers and one racemate (DL-Mandelic aci). At room temperature for the colorless transparent corrugated flaky crystal, or colorless flake or granular solid, with micro-odor. Soluble in hot water, ether and isopropyl alcohol, insoluble in ethanol, can be used as pharmaceutical antibacterial agents, organic synthesis and other intermediates, is the determination of zirconium reagents.
It is used in organic synthesis and pharmaceutical industry, medicine is benzoyl formate, cefadroxil, urinary tract fungicide mandelic acid urotropine, the end of a small vasodilator ring limonic acid, eye drops of nicotiazole, Pimolin and tropics antispasmodic agents. In addition, it is also used clinically as a urethral preservative. Also used in organic synthesis, dyes, pesticide raw materials and intermediates.
