Acyclovir is a purine nucleoside derivative that inhibits the synthesis of DNA and has a 60-fold stronger anti-herpesvirus activity than adenosine. Clinically used for herpes simplex virus encephalitis, herpes virus keratitis and external genital infection, varicella zoster virus infection and cytomegalovirus infection of AIDS, chronic hepatitis B and so on.
