            Phenacetin was first synthesized by Morse in 1878, and was listed in the United States in 1887. It is the first synthetic antipyretic analgesic on the market, and is often used to treat headache, fever, neuralgia, etc. But the 1953 incident of phenacetin-induced severe kidney damage raised alarms about the drug's safety, and the 1970 incident of phenacetin-induced urinary tract cancer further questioned its safety. Due to the toxicity and side effects of phenacetin, the drug has been discontinued to be used alone. At present, phenacetin is mainly used in combination with aspirin and caffeine to make compound preparation APC for antipyretic and analgesic. Phenacetin is also an important organic synthesis raw material and pharmaceutical intermediate, which is of great significance in organic synthesis, drug production and new drug development.

             This product is an acetanilide antipyretic and analgesic drug, and the antipyretic and analgesic effect is moderate and long-lasting. The antipyretic intensity is similar to that of aspirin, but the analgesic effect is weaker. Almost no anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic and anti-platelet aggregation effects. Due to its high toxicity, and it has been replaced by paracetamol with similar effects and less toxicity, this product is no longer used alone, but is only used in compound preparations with aspirin, aminopyrine, barbiturates, etc.
