Tricarboxylic acid cycle
α-Ketoglutarate is an important metabolic intermediate in the microbial tricarboxylic acid cycle and a key node connecting intracellular carbon-nitrogen metabolism. Its position in the cycle is after isocitrate and before succinyl-CoA. In this part, the apoplastic reaction can achieve the purpose of supplementing this intermediate metabolite by generating α-ketoglutarate through the transamination of glutamate, and it can also be achieved by glutamate dehydrogenase acting on glutamate this purpose.
